What is this thing?
This is a dragon curve. It is written in PHP and rendered by your web browser. It is essentially a series of lines at right angles that doubles with each iteration and the new iteration rotates 90 degrees.
It follows a pattern of turns: the first turn is a left. Then you add another left and then mirror the previous turns. For example:start with L, add another L, then the last turn is R (opposite of the first L). Let's go further:
Note, the PHP code runs relatively fast, but adding a high number of iterations may slow your browser down... a lot! This is because PHP tells your browser how to render the curve and your browser does the actual rendering. However, my iPad Mini renders it slow yet stable enough I can watch the curve expand from start to finish rather than in the blink of an eye.
